Research carried out in 2000 identified a huge, untapped potential of Student Volunteers in Scotland. Student Volunteering Scotland (SVS) was established in 2002 as a response to this research.
Student Volunteering Scotland aims to strategically support, develop and promote student volunteering in Scottish Further and Higher Education Institutions. Student Volunteering Scotland is a charity and as such is run by a voluntary board. SVS currently employs an Executive Director, Phyl Meyer, who is carrying out development work for the organisation and will secure and manage future project funding and work. SVS is currently supported through 'in-kind' services by the Scottish Council of Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) who provide us with a base and in-office support, and we are working closely with them on a number of project areas.
