Welcome to our area specifically for organisations that currently engage students as volunteers or who wish to start doing so in the future.
We hope you’re here because you already appreciate that students can contribute substantially to your aims and objectives as an organisation.  If that isn’t the case then you may want to check out our top 5 reasons to involve students as volunteers.

  • Students will often create their own semi-independent volunteering opportunities
  • Students tend to be articulate, enthusiastic and well educated
  • Students may have specialist knowledge of relevance to you
  • Students are willing to learn and be influenced by the world around them
  • Students that volunteer may choose to work with you in the future.

So you want your organisation to work better with student volunteers.  First stop should probably be our recent guide “A Fresher Dynamic” which gives a broad overview of the simple techniques you can use to enhance your approach.

You may also want to consider coming to the Scottish Student Volunteering Conference, an annual event with training, networking opportunities, new ideas and an update on what’s new in the sector.

If you aren’t already aware of them you may also want to check out the services offered by Volunteer Development Scotland (www.vds.org.uk)
